Top Countries to Go Sightseeing

So many places to go, so many things to see.

It’s not easy picking where to travel when you live on such a richly cultured planet. Picking a “top list” for sightseeing isn’t easy, especially with so many preferences and differences among one another, but skipping these countries on your travels across the world is definitely not recommended.

1. Bulgaria

Home to several famous innovators, Bulgaria’s country name reaches the ears of many (mostly for its popularity as a tourist destination). You’ll find the Kazanlak Tomb here, with its round burial chamber. The building’s exterior alone takes your breath away. You can check out the Ivanovo Rock Churches, which are on the list of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites.

But don’t stop there; you can also visit the landmark printed on the Bulgarian banknote: the Rila Monastery. If you’ve still got time head over to Nesebar, a small and beautiful resort on the seaside.

2. France

When a country has Paris, the most romantic city in the world, you know it has to make the list of top sightseeing destinations for tourists. It’s home to the Louvre, one of the most famous museums in the world. There you’ll find the works of Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Raphael, and many of history’s most famous artists.

Also in France lies the Cemetery of French Kings, where you’ll find the breathtaking displays of people who died during the French Revolution.

3. Turkey

Turkey, one of the oldest countries in the world, sits on the middle of Eurasia. With its rich history, Turkey has many exciting sightseeing opportunities. Wander Istanbul to see one of the most beautiful cities in the world (also with the second-largest population).

Turkey is slowly becoming one of the world’s top cruise sites, so why not enjoy the gorgeous coastline? And don’t forget to visit the Hagia Sophia, one of the world’s greatest monuments.

4. San Marino

Founded by Saint Marinus in the northern part of Italy, San Marino exists as one of the smallest countries in the world today. Some of the main sights to see here include the San Marino Historic Center, with its gorgeous view of Mount Titano, which is the highest point in the country. The Historic Center itself gives your eyes a treat, with its castle look and incredible walls.

5. Japan

With its colorful tradition and advanced technologies, Japan offers much for any tourists looking for an entertaining adventure. To see beautiful, traditional architectural design, visit the Shinto Itsukushima Shrine, one of the sacred Shinto sites. You can watch cherry blossoms at the Goryokaku Fort. Or, if you’re in for a more dismal yet awe-inspiring activity, you can visit the Atomic Bomb Dome, as a reminder of the atomic bombing.
