Planning A Holiday In Indonesia? Here’s Your Quick Travel Guide
Choosing a holiday is tough, and rather time-consuming. The world is literally your oyster, and the only limit is your bank account. Most people like to holiday abroad once if not twice a year, so it’s a big business, with even bigger locations.
So, where to go on your next trip? If you’re considering Indonesia, there are many reasons why you should take the plunge. Not every location will appeal to every tourist, but Indonesia offers enough to satisfy people of absolutely any age.
Why visit Indonesia?
Besides being warm, with a ton of interesting wildlife and golden beaches, Indonesia has some incredible sights. From the Mount Bromo volcano to the Ubud Monkey Forest, it’s a treat for the eyes and the memory. Of course, visiting somewhere new can be extremely daunting, but that is true of any location. If you’re looking for more information, here is a quick, handy travel guide to make your trip planning go more smoothly.
Location, location, location
Indonesia is a vast country with a ton of different places to visit and cities to stay in. When you’re planning a holiday, choosing a location will be one of the first things you do. So choose a good one! When you’re there, you can’t switch it.
Indonesia is home to a lot of historical temples, so if you’re into cultural history, you’re in for a treat. Indonesia is also surrounded by beaches and seawater, offering some of the best sandiest beaches and bluest waters in the whole of Asia. If not the world!
If it’s sunbathing you’re after, you can’t go wrong with the Seminyak Beach in Bali. It’s one of the most beautiful seafronts in the whole continent, and even better, is right next to many accommodation suites. In fact, many hotels in Bali offer stunning views of the Seminyak Beach, allowing you to stare into that beautiful sunset with ease.
Best time of year to travel?
Indonesia has two main seasons; wet, and dry. Unless you enjoy the rain (and who does?) you’ll want to target that warmer, sunnier season. May to September is your best bet, generally falling in line with summers across the globe. However, some areas of the country can receive rainfall at different times, so take a look at the previous hyperlink to brush up.
When it is warm though, it’s really warm. Temperatures can reach as high as 30 degrees Celsius during the daytime, so pack a lot of that suncream! If you’re from a cooler country, your body and eyes will have a hard time adjusting to such a radical heat shift. So, be sure to pack all the relevant sun-defense measures.
Popular foods and drinks
Popular Indonesian foods include satay, which is basically a kebab. Gudeg is another tasty treat, and is made from boiled jackfruit and served with rice and chicken. In terms of drink, there are a number of ‘exotic’ flavours for you to try, and the biggest of these is Kopi Luwak. This is a coffee that’s made from the excrement of the Luwak – a cat that has eaten coffee beans then got rid of them naturally.
